Roasted Ube with Philippine Pineapple
June 2021
In light of heritage month due to popular demand, we’ve decided to team up again with Kasama Chocolate and bring back the Roasted Ube with Philippine Pineapple Chocolate Bar.
We at Layunin roasted purple yam, pureed it, then it went through a 24 hour dehydration process before grinding into a fine powder. The good folks over at Kasama Chocolate then stone ground it with cocoa butter and Philippine pineapple giving it a signature texture, with a hint of citrus and is entirely vegan and gluten free.Ann Liao designed the wrapper, it depicts a Tandang ("rooster") – a symbol for courage, strength, and renewal – and was inspired by the famous Sarimanok - a legendary bird in Philippine mythology.

Typhoon Ulysses - Relief Bar
November 20th 2020
Typhoon Ulysses descended on the Philippines, destroying major areas of the archipelago, including the Cagayan Valley where our good friend Vince of Kasama Chocolate began their chocolate journey. We’ve decided to team up and create a Roasted Ube with Pineapple Chocolate Bar where 50% of our profits would go to support those affected by flooding.
The cover art depicts a water buffalo swimming through a river - it symbolizes strength and patience. It was beautifully painted by Ann Liao, a Vancouver based artist and member of the Kasama Chocolate team. -
Filipino Fridays Podcast
October 19th 2020
We had an amazing conversation with Archirose and Archia from the Filipino Fridays podcast. We not only touched on our journey with our cuisine, but our intent and purpose to drive our culture to the forefront through community collaboration and education. There’s so many honorable mentions in this interview that it eventually lead to a cultivator series with other local vendors that was extremely well done. If you get a chance, we suggest you listen to all of them! It’s a great way to learn about what our community and culture has to offer.
